Polygon PoS Chain Unique Addresses reached 160M Addresses

Polygon Weekly Recap Week 33 (11/8 - 17/8) - 4

Polygon PoS Chain Unique Addresses grew ~ 12.5M in more than 1 month and reached 160M Addresses. July is currently the month with the most addresses this year, even close to the whole of Q2 combined. While BNB Chain just gained over 6M new addresses and Ethereum over 2M addresses.

Polygon is showing a superior mass adoption compared to other Alt L1s. With 37000+ dApps now live on Polygon, a significant increase in a short period of time has made Polygon the most suitable chain for a builder.

Polygon is Now Home to Over 37,000 DApps

Polygon Weekly Recap Week 33 (11/8 - 17/8) - 5

More than 37,000 decentralized apps (dApps) have been built on Polygon, according to the latest data from Alchemy, the world’s leading Web3 development platform. That’s almost double the number in March and a fourfold increase since the start of the year.

The number of monthly active teams, the most direct measure of developer activity on the Polygon PoS chain, clocked over 11,800 at the end of July, up from just over 8,000 in March. Many projects are increasingly choosing to build solely on Polygon. Alchemy data shows that 74% of teams integrated exclusively on Polygon, while 26% deployed on both Polygon and Ethereum. A single team can have multiple dApps on the chain.

Polygon PoS serves as a hub for some of the most important Web3 projects, including Aave, Uniswap V3, and OpenSea, as well as Mark Cuban-founded Lazy.com. Polygon’s thriving ecosystem is one of the reasons why companies such as Meta, Adobe, Stripe, Telefonica, and Dolce Gabbana have chosen Polygon as their default gateway to Web3.

Plonky2 is Now Open-Source

Polygon Weekly Recap Week 33 (11/8 - 17/8) - 6

Earlier this year, Polygon announced Plonky2, a zero-knowledge proving system that represents a major breakthrough for ZK tech. Plonky2 offers two main benefits: incredibly fast proofs and extremely efficient recursive proofs. It’s a huge leap forward for the ZK space, and they’ve been blown away by the response from the developer community: people want to build on Plonky2.

Today we’re proud to announce that Plonky2 and Starky are open-source. They are now dual-licensed under the MIT license and Apache2.

This means that developers now have access to Starky, which we believe is the fastest STARK prover in existence (certainly the fastest open-source STARK prover), and Plonky2, which offers incredibly fast recursion. Both can be used on Ethereum (and other blockchains) today.

ZK tech offers the best hope for scalability and privacy on Ethereum, but proof generation has historically been too expensive and slow to be practical for anything but simple applications. Plonky2 fixes this, and it’s a core part of how we’re scaling Ethereum. They’re excited to share it with the developer community.

Polygon Fellowship Class of 2022 Wraps Up With IRL Hacker House

Polygon Weekly Recap Week 33 (11/8 - 17/8) - 7

Congratulations, Polygon Fellowship Class of 2022!

Polygon partnered with DevFolio to bring together a group of talented and motivated fellows to the eight-week long fellowship, capped by a one-week IRL event. These fellows were selected from more than 10,000 registrations, with an acceptance rate of 0.7%. (To provide some context, global elite institutions like MIT, Stanford, and Harvard accept at rates of 7.3%, 5.2%, and 5%, respectively).

The first class of Polygon’s Fellowship kicked off in June and July with an amazing pool of developer talent from across India. Polygon fellows joined the program boasting a diversity of backgrounds–some were building in Web3 for the first time, while others boasted longtime experience in Web3 startups. But all fellows were committed to building innovative, open, Web3 projects. You can read more about our fellows on the Polygon Developer Twitter handle.

On the final day of the hacker house, fellows displayed what they’d built with live demonstrations. A hundred accomplished builders, including CEOs and founders from India’s illustrious tech industry, showed up in support. Many potential investors left impressed by the grit and quality put up by Polygon fellows. You can read about the projects here.
