ECOSYSTEM UPDATES
BNB Chain Introduces opBNB, A Layer-2 Chain Powered by Optimism, to Address Scalability Challenges.
opBNB, an EVM-compatible chain, offers increased security and scalability to the Binance blockchain network. It supports over 4,000 transactions per second with an average cost below $0.005. The gas limit is raised to 100 million per block, compared to Optimism’s 30 million. Optimistic Rollups are used to scale transactions, and the RPC service layer simplifies integration.
opBNB aims to overcome scalability limitations and facilitate mass adoption of blockchain technology by providing a user-friendly environment for developers.

BNB Smart Chain Testnet Hard Fork Update
BNB Smart Chain testnet has scheduled a major upgrade called Hertz, alongside the London and Berlin hardforks, on June 29, 2023.
Validators and node operators must switch to software version v1.2.7 before the event to avoid disruptions. The Hertz hardfork will bring Ethereum’s London and Berlin upgrades to BSC, with some implementation divergences. Notable changes include gas metering, new transaction types, and additional EVM opcodes. DApp developers and users should understand these changes’ impact. The v1.2.7 update aims to enhance BSC testnet’s compatibility, efficiency, stability, and performance through block height upgrades, improved metrics, and bug fixes.

BNB Greenfield Testnet June Reset: Maintenance Upgrade, Bug Fixes, and New Features
BNB Greenfield testnet will undergo a maintenance upgrade to v0.2.2 on June 25th, with all previous data and balances being cleared. The goal is to address bugs, introduce new features, and enhance the platform’s efficiency.
Following the reset, an airdrop will be conducted for users, ensuring convenience for those holding less than 10 tBNB. It’s important to note that all buckets and objects will be erased, optimizing network performance.
New features include supporting multiple messages in a transaction, mirroring bucket/object/group, recording challenge attestation results, adding keyManager into transactions, enabling SP to use B2 as storage, and enabling a universal endpoint for private objects.
