Polygon zkEVM now supports the Bridged USDC Standard, which is designed to make it easier for Layer 2 blockchains to transition to native USDC in the future.
The Bridged USDC Standard was created by Circle to help newer EVM chains and rollups deal with the “cold start” issue of needing bridged stablecoins to bootstrap activity until native tokens are warranted. Supporting this standard on Polygon zkEVM will help prevent fragmentation of liquidity in the future, in case Circle enables native USDC minting on the network.
