Ethereum’s New ‘Holesky’ Testnet to Launch in September
Ethereum developers discussed the upcoming launch of the Holesky testnet, scheduled for September 15. They tested 1.4 million validators and decided to start with that size. The developers also agreed to introduce 1.6 billion Holesky ETH into circulation on the testnet.
Holesky will replace the Goerli testnet and will be used to test future Ethereum upgrades, including Cancun and Deneb. The testnet will launch on September 15, 2023, and will be in use until 2028.
Scroll has Launched its Beta Testnet on Sepolia for Developers and Users
The testnet includes new features and improvements to the zkEVM, bridge, and infrastructure. The zkEVM upgrade improves EVM compatibility through precompiled upgrades, efficient on-chain verification through proof compression and aggregation, and enhanced circuit integrity.
The bridge upgrade reduces gas costs by up to 50% and introduces a trustless message relay function between L1 and L2, eliminating the reliance on trusted relayers.
The infrastructure upgrade introduces the EIP-2718 transaction type L1MessageTx for trustless message passing, gets rid of trusted centralized relayers, and prevents proof overflow by simplifying the circuit capacity checker.
Shiba Inu’s Ethereum Layer-2 Blockchain Shibarium Launched Mainnet
Shiba Inu developers are launching Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain that uses SHIB tokens as fees. Shibarium is designed to provide faster and cheaper transactions than Ethereum, making it more suitable for DeFi and gaming applications.
The network will utilize BONE, TREAT, SHIB, and LEASH tokens for applications built on the blockchain. A “DoggyDAO” will be introduced to fund projects building on Shibarium.
zkSync Unveils Experimental NFT LIBERTAS OMNIBUS, Open to Early Members
zkSync is launching an experimental NFT project called LIBERTAS OMNIBUS, which will be available to early members who have interacted with more than 100 zkSync NFT series prior to July 12.
This is the latest development in the growing NFT space, as new projects and platforms continue to emerge to meet the demand for digital art and collectibles. To check if you are eligible for NFT minting, visit here.
